Uses of Colliery Land

MAP : Arley 1968 -- 1988.

The colliery land is now used for both industrial and housing estates, while the old colliery offices now house the North Warwickshire Mines Rescue Headquarters.

Industrial Estates

Most of the pit land is now used as the site of an industrial estate. The units available house both small, one-man, firms and large industrial companies, they are built over the shafts and coalface areas. 'Jackson's of Old Arley', probably the best known company using this site, is built on the entrance/exit of the colliery.

Housing Estates

Housing has been developed mainly around the Colliers Way, formerly the entrance/exit of the colliery. The last stage of this estate is built on the site of the weighing area for the colliery's lorries.
