Arley's Population and Housing Development

As the colliery expanded the population of Arley increased and new housing areas were developed. Between 1920 and 1955 six hundred houses were built on land which had been the Fir Tree Farm, this became New Arley.

MAP : New Arley.

There were four main areas of housing development : Hill Top, Gun Hill, The New Estate and George Street.
